Karen Ramsey

Karen Ramsey, CFP® — Founder, President, Certified Financial PlannerTM, Investment Committee Lead

Karen has over 20 years’ experience as a fee-only Certified Financial PlannerTM professional. She is the author of Think Again: New Money Choices, Old Money Myths and the creator and leader of a nationally presented workshop based on her book, Caring for Your Soul in Matters of Money®. Karen is profiled in numerous publications year after year. She proudly received the Seattle Mayor's Small Business Award in 2007. Karen has appeared on TV as a finance education program host as well as being interviewed as a financial expert on KUOW (Seattle’s affiliate of NPR), CBS’s "This Morning", and CNN’s Financial News Shows, and in Glamour Magazine, The Seattle Times, US News & World Report and The New York Times. She is a Sustaining Member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).

Karen’s current interests are: fostering a healthy work-life balance atmosphere in the workplace, family fun, and broadening the audience of Caring for Your Soul in Matters of Money® seminars to help people discover their Money Baggage and create a new, personally-inspiring Money Message.


Shawn Donnelly

Shawn Donnelly, MA, CFP® — Certified Financial PlannerTM, Investment Committee Member

Shawn came to work at Ramsey & Associates in 1998 as a fee-only Certified Financial PlannerTM professional. She has conducted seminars for many organizations including Weyerhaeuser, The Seattle Times, Boeing, Children’s Hospital and the City of Seattle, been highlighted in The Seattle Times as an investment advisor, and appeared on TV as part of a forum on retirement. Shawn is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Speech Communication, as well as a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Washington.

Shawn’s current interests are: making sure clients are taken care of, great food and fun with friends, enjoying the excellent variety of fare Seattle has to offer by trying something new every chance she gets, exercise, and being in nature.


Ría Cherie, MSIM — Project Manager, Investment Committee Member

Ría came to Ramsey & Associates in 2007 with a background in management accounting and financial systems implementations at the European Headquarters of Korn/Ferry International. She received her undergraduate degree in linguistics from the University of Washington and returned there in 2003 to earn her MS in Information Management from the forward-thinking UW Information School. Ría addresses a variety of issues affecting our clients. She manages ongoing projects and works with Brian to monitor client portfolios, manage model portfolios, place trades, and create customer service and trading business processes.

Ría’s current interests are: having secure client data and a great workplace, writing and performing music as a singer, Pacific Northwest hikes and beaches, personal growth, spiritual counseling education, and gluten-free foods.


Britteny Caldwell — Paraplanner

In 2010, Britteny joined with a background in financial services as well as several years of administrative experience. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration Finance from the University of Washington, Tacoma and has since earned her Series 65 certification while an employee here. Britteny has an upbeat and positive outlook on life and enjoys working with clients regarding their accounts and needs. She works to improve office efficiency, currently focusing her efforts on database management and client preparation work.

Britteny's current interests are: ensuring secure, accurate information for our clients, growing vegetables in her northwest family garden, cooking delicious cuisine for her "foody" friends, and the annual Warrior Dash race.


Brian Woodward — Paraplanner

Brian joined in early 2013 as a paraplanner and supports trading, office operations, and client service. Before arriving here, he served as the business and operations manager for an independent broker/dealer branch office for eleven years followed by a five-year engagement as a client service representative for an institutional money manager. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle at City University and a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Washington. Brian answers administrative queries regarding client accounts.

Brian's current interests are: providing every client with superb service, traveling with his wife Krista, and remodeling and building projects. He is also an avid fly fisherman!


Cindy Shaw — Office Manager

Cindy came to in late 2013 with a history of working sixteen years in property management services. In addition, she has over twenty years of administrative experience in the accounting, insurance, and medical industries. Cindy's employment history has involved customer service as well as providing detailed and confidential support work for professional and management personnel. She is handling our office administrative duties and providing support for our paraplanners and advisors.

Cindy's current interests are: developing new skills in the workplace and assisting clients and co-workers in completing tasks in a timely manner. She also enjoys crafting, party planning, and spending quality time with her family, particularly on beach vacations.
